Martin Luther King Jr. Day PDF Print E-mail
Welcome to Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. People everywhere are joined together in his memory, for what he stood and fought for, and died for, and now in that spirit we are united in support of the people of Haiti in their hour of suffering and need. Don't think for a minute that your thoughts and prayers and donations aren't important, they are each and every one. As we carry on about our days lets not forget how fortunate we are and share that good fortune as we can.

Waco Texas PDF Print E-mail
On Saturday March 13th, The Desert Dogs will make their pilgrimage to Waco Texas for the 5th Annual St. Patties Day Party, at Nelsons' Banquet Hall,(nelsonsbanquethall.com ) located at 414 Franklin Ave 254-714-1114.

This party has grown to capacity over the years with folks coming from Oklahoma , Colorado, New Mexico the Texas Panhandle and beyond. If you would like to attend please call ahead and let Nelson and his wife Anne know. There is no cover. Nelson throws this bash every year just because he's a hell of a nice guy and he likes to party!

Nelson and I went to high school together and have stayed close friends thought our lives. I lived in Waco with Nelson back in our younger and wilder days, and have many fond memories of Waco and Nelson. I used to play at a now defunct resteraunt there called Water Works, and got to meet and play music with some of the Texas Legends, BW Stevenson, Rusty Wier, Vince Bell, Craig Calvert and Steven Fromholz.

Life on this Earth has been made so much sweeter 'cause of my life long friend Nelson Rue. Come and party with the Dogs, Old ones, Lucky ones and Desert ones. Be sure and book your hotel rooms in advance cause you can't stay at Nelsons'.

Texas is calling my name PDF Print E-mail

Texas is calling my name. I've been invited to do a show in my home town, Amarillo, for High Plains Public Radio, on February 13th.
This is part of a series of concerts called The Living Room Concerts . The Desert Dogs will join me for what should be a fun Valantines weekend show. Living Room Concerts have become the rage across the country in support of independent artists and music lovers as well. In that growing tradition, this network of Public Radio Staions provides the much needed radio exposer we indy artists need, and we thank them.

HPPR (http://www.hppr.org/lrc.html ),  has a network of 20 stations that trasmitt across the Texas Panhandle, Oklahoma Panhandle, Southeast Colorado, and Western Kansas and on a clear day Nebraska! The show will be recorded and edited for later radio play along with web streaming and pod casting.

The Performance Studios' location is 101 West 5th Suite 100 in Amarillo . Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 7:30. Admission is free but there is a $10 suggested donation with all proceeds going to the musicians. There will be coffee and lights snacks provided.

If you find yourself in Amarillo February 13th please join us.

"Raise Your Voice" reviewed in Texas Music PDF Print E-mail

 Texas Music

"The title Raise Your Voice seems a bit of a misnomer; Warren doesn't shout his convictions so much as express them in a soothing manner befitting a front porch conversation while watching a Southwestern sunset. His lyrics and delivery are earnest but amiable, helped along by unassuming but pleasing melodies and impeccably clean acoustic picking. The four tracks featuring subtle accompaniment from Lloyd Maines and Terri Hendrix are highlights, but Warren and his band Walking Rain sound just fine on their own too. - Richard Skanse
